I live in: Tokyo, Japan

My bio in 5 sentences: I am an education consultant, writer, and researcher specializing in the intersection of globalization, parenting, and education.  I like to write about provocative educational topics that haven’t been previously reported in efforts to improve the educational outcomes of our next generation, and my articles have been published in many languages. I have advised countless families, led seminars, given lectures, and conducted numerous studies on: international and multicultural education, multiple language acquisition, education theory, and navigating school choice. Having worked in and raised three children in the local schools of the United States, Hong Kong, China, and now Japan where I am based, I have visited hundreds of schools in these countries, and we speak English, Japanese, Chinese, and French fluently in our home.

I went to Dartmouth because I am a city person having grown up in New York, and I wanted to be a part of a college community in a new environment.

People are surprised that before I got involved with education, I was an interior designer and hosted an internationally syndicated show for HGTV.

My guilty pleasure is reality TV (!) and dark chocolate
