Demetra Navab Taleghani studied English Literature at Dartmouth and became a financial journalist with SmartMoney Magazine in New York after graduating in 1994. She subsequently became Publisher of the Capital Markets Group for Institutional Investor Newsletters. Deme then rejoined SmartMoney and moved to London to open the European office for as the Director of Business Development. After having two children, she moved to Boston, where she lives now, to focus on family while continuing her interest in journalism as a freelance writer.

Deme has served in a variety of charitable roles in Boston and is particularly involved with education and the arts. She is particularly active at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts (SMFA) where she serves on the Board of Governors and sits on the Enrollment and Strategy Committee as well as the Student Affairs Committee. She also is the former Chair of the Medici Society for the SMFA.

Since graduating, Deme has remained passionate about Dartmouth. She has served as her class’s Reunion Chair for both her 10th and 15th year reunions as well as being a Class Agent. In addition, Deme served on the Class Leadership Transition Task Force. Deme is currently her Class President and will co-chair giving for her 20th Reunion.

Deme lives in downtown Boston with her husband, Reza, and her two young children, Nicoletta, who is eleven years old, and Dino, who is nine.
